I Thought I knew Love

I thought I knew what love was, I was mistaken.
I thought I knew who Edgar was cause I was his raven.

But I had no clue,
I was just a black bird feeling blue!

Then I met him, and I met love for the first time.
He was my poetry; he was my least used rhyme.

But I had no luck,
In love... I’m a black duck!

And now, I can tell you about that feeling when you meet the one
You’ll see a life together, he’s imperfectly perfect, compares to none

You desire him, dream of him, and when you see him you know
He's the one made for you, and in distance this love continues to grow

You call for him 100 times per day, hoping it will reach
He knows you so little, but of him you can teach

It’s like you’ve met in another lifetime, his soul…
His face, his wrinkles, him completely as a whole

And never mind the years, he’ll always live in your heart and mind
Especially at night, you secretly know that to you he was designed!

You only know what love is, or who love is when it’s not yours
Reality can be harsh, but that’s what dreams are made for.
